Having learned about the program, Cragg quickly applied.

Cragg received a $5,000 CICan scholarship to help cover the travel and living expenses.

CNC also secured an additional $2,000 through the International Education department.

As a member and sponsored student of the Saik’uz First Nation, her band office is also helping with living costs at home to support her family while she's in Brazil.

“All of that support has gone a long way to making this journey a reality,” she said.

When in Brazil, Cragg will continue to learn Portuguese as well as undertake a Technology and Business course.

Opportunities to teach English to students in Brazil will also be available for Cragg.

“Students get to explore the world and experience new cultures while enhancing their language and employability skills,” Pasca said. “It is a great way to earn credits while exploring the globe.”
