If you’re part of a non-profit organization looking to enrich the art, culture and heritage experience in Kelowna, the time is now to apply for a grant.

The City is now accepting applications for their 2019 Arts and Culture General Operating or Project grants, with more than $150,000 available.

“Cultural grants make it possible for local organizations to build their organizations and provide unique community experiences like festivals and events that highlight our community’s arts, culture and heritage,” said Christine McWillis, cultural services manager.

The General Operating grants are extended to local arts, culture and heritage organizations who do the majority of their work in Kelowna and demonstrate a spirit of community service in their operations.

Project grants, on the other hand, are awarded to community organizations that provide a festival, event or project that features arts, culture or heritage and are accessible to the public.

The latter is open to all non-profit organizations, not just those in the arts, culture and heritage sector.

“Funding from the City of Kelowna for the Taste of Fringe was instrumental to the events success and ensuring that Kelowna Fringe can expand in a scalable and sustainable way in the future,”says Dustyn Baulkham, executive director of the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan.

Applicants have until Friday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. to submit a completed application and grant funding will be confirmed for successful applications in February.

This past year, 23 operating and project grants totalling $163,265 were made in the community.
