The City has officially notified the provincial government that it has now activated its Emergency Operations Centre due to the flood risk in the Nechako and Fraser Rivers.
There are no warnings, alerts or evacuation orders issued to homeowners or businesses at this time.

The Emergency Operations Centre is activated at level one, which is the lowest level.
This means the centre is ready if the flood risk increases.
A section of Heritage River Trial from the canoe launch at Cottonwood Island Nature Park to Taylor Drive has been closed.

The island in Cottonwood Island Park and Paddlewheel Park closed down on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. They also remain closed at this time.

Crews with the Prince George Fire Rescue Services will monitor the rivers through the weekend.
All residents are encouraged to use caution whenever walking near rivers when water levels are increasing.
