  • Chiefs on the brink of elimination heading to Revelstoke for game 6

So far, the home team is 0-5 in the KIJHL conference final series between the Kelowna Chiefs and Revelstoke Grizzlies.

The Chiefs are certainly hoping that trend continues as they head to Revelstoke for a must-win game six on Tuesday night.

The Grizzlies took a 3-2 series lead on Monday with a commanding 5-1 win at Rutland Arena on the back of 35 saves from Liam McGarva.

First period goals from Jon Vandermolen and Brenden Vulcano gave Revelstoke a 2-0 lead through one period of play.

After a scoreless second, Kaeden Patrick and Ethan Schaeffer would double the Grizzlies lead, putting the Chiefs in a big 4-0 hole.

Lane Paddison would finally break McGarva’s shutout to make it 4-1, but that’s as close as Kelowna would come, as Raymond Speerbrecker’s empty netter sealed the deal for Revelstoke.

If the Chiefs are able to win game six in Revelstoke on Tuesday and stay alive in the series, a winner-takes-all game seven will be played in Kelowna on Wednesday.
