  • Calgary Police uses social media to track down owner of stolen cannon

Social media can be both good or bad, depending on how its used, but the Calgary Police Service is using it for all the right reasons.

Cst. Jeremy Shaw took to Twitter on Monday, asking if anyone could help him find the rightful owner of a recovered stolen good.

It seems normal enough, but the item he was trying to find an owner for was far from standard.

The item was a cannon, which raises a lot more questions than it does answers.

Of course, he opened himself up to a lot of jokes and many people suggesting that he ask the Columbus Blue Jackets, who were actually in town to play the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.

Against all odds, however, Shaw tweeted on Thursday that the CPS managed to track down the owner of the cannon!

Shaw isn’t stopping there with the odd items though.

He’s now looking to find the owners of some crazy wood masks, a gas mask and an old pistol, just in case you’ve lost any of those items in Calgary recently.
