  • ‘Blowing snow advisory’ issued for the Coquihalla

The icy roads won’t be the only thing making it difficult to drive the Coquihalla Highway today.

A ‘blowing snow advisory’ has been issued for the infamous stretch of highway between Merritt and Hope.

“A low pressure system over southern BC will continue to spread snow over the region this morning,” says the alert.

“The combination of falling snow with very strong winds will result in blowing snow and poor visibility.”

Conditions are expected to improve throughout the morning as snow tapers off and the winds ease.

Environment Canada also had Hwy 3 as part of this alert, but it was upgraded to a ‘winter storm warning’ around 4 am.

If you are travelling through any of the BC Interior mountain passes today, make sure to adjust your driving to match the road conditions and pack an emergency kit as a precaution.
