Less than 24 hours after it was announced that Cory Clouston would be leaving the Kamloops Blazers, his replacement has been named.

Mark Holick has joined the Blazers as an assistant coach after spending the last three seasons with Yale Hockey Academy’s U18 prep team.
 

Holick said he’s very excited to be back in the WHL and joining the Blazers’ organization.

“Shaun (Clouston) has had a lot of success in this league and has done a great job with the Blazers,” Holick explained. 

“I am looking forward to working with Shaun and the players in helping them pursue their goals.”

A native of Penticton, Holick has more than 25 years of coaching experience in the WHL, BCHL, AJHL, AHL and with Hockey Canada.

“Mark is a career hockey coach,” said Clouston. “He is personable and passionate and brings with him a wealth of coaching experience from minor hockey, junior and pro.”

Holick was previously a head coach with the Kootenay Ice between 2007-10 and with the Prince George Cougars from 2013-16.

His efforts in Cranbrook led him to a WHL Coach of the Year award in 2010.

Cory Clouston’s resignation was announced on Wednesday, something he called a difficult decision, but one made due to personal reasons.
