  • Blazers d-man Kyle Masters inks NHL deal

Kyle Masters has become the third Kamloops Blazers player to ink an NHL deal since the start of March.

The defenceman signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild today, which will kick in for the start of the 2023-24 season.

The 19-year-old has 11 goals and 48 assists for 59 points in just 58 games with the Blazers this season.

He’s currently tied for seventh in scoring among WHL defencemen.

It’s been an incredible breakout this season for the Edmonton native, as he previously had just five goals and 22 assists for 27 points in 109 career games over his first three WHL seasons.

Those first three seasons were all played with the Red Deer Rebels before he was acquired, along with a conditional first-round pick, in exchange for Mats Lindgren last summer.

Masters was a fourth-round pick, 118th overall, of the Wild in the 2021 NHL draft.
