  • Blazers acquire 19-year-old forward from Rebels

The Kamloops Blazers added to their forward depth with a minor trade today.

The club sent a fifth-round pick in the 2024 WHL draft to the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for 19-year-old forward Ethan Rowland.

“Ethan is a hardworking forward who plays the game at a high pace,” said GM Shaun Clouston.

“We look forward to Ethan providing depth and experience to our line-up down the stretch to the playoffs.”

Rowland, who was a first-round pick in the 2017 WHL draft, has been limited to 10 games this season and will likely remain out of the lineup until February with an upper-body injury.

In 95 career games with the Rebels over the past four seasons, the Calgary native has 12 goals and six assists.

The fifth-round pick sent to Red Deer could improve to a fourth-round pick in 2024 based on the number of games Rowland plays with the Blazers.
