  • BCWS launches official app ahead of wildfire season

As we get into wildfire season, the BC Wildfire Service has launched a new app that will help residents across the province stay informed.

Available for Apple and Android devices, the app will give everyone the ability to access consistent, accurate and timely wildfire information from anywhere in BC.

The main feature will be a wildfire map, just like the one you see on the BCWS website, which will provide information like the current fire danger ratings, active fires, open burning prohibitions and plenty more.

It will also offer a ‘Near Me’ function, which means the app will use your GPS location to display information within a 50-kilometre radius of your current location.

The app will also have all the latest news and advisories directly from BCWS and informative statistics as well, but the most important feature might be the information on how to report wildfires.

There will be a “Report a Fire” function on the app that will give you the proper information on how to report a wildfire and what you’ll be asked by officials while doing so.

To download the app, search 'BC Wildfire Service' in your App Store.
