(UPDATE: July 18 @ 12:15 p.m.) – A number of small wildfires have sparked in the Okanagan after Tuesday night's lightning storm.
However, none of those fires are currently threatening structures, according to fire information officer, Jodie Lucius.
Only one of those fires is reported to be more than a couple of hectares in size, which would be the Mount Conkle Fire near Summerland.
"The fire which was ignited last evening from a lightning strike is currently approximately 50-70 hectares in size and is actively being attacked by multiple fixed wing air tankers," reads a release from the District of Summerland.
"At this time, the fire does not pose a risk to the District of Summerland, however the situation is being monitored closely as conditions can change quickly."
While most of these fires have popped up on Tuesday night, one new fire has sparked in the Glenrosa area of West Kelowna on Wednesday.
BC Wildfire Service had no information regarding the fire and West Kelowna Fire Rescue, who is on scene at the fire, has not answered calls from NowMedia.

(Original story: July 17 @ 9 p.m.) – B.C. Wildfire Service is responding to 13 new fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre with ground crews, helicopters and air tankers and is expecting more fires to ignite due to the "widespread lightning in many areas across B.C."
No structures are currently known to be threatened by the fires at this time.
Of the fires, B.C. Wildfire has identified a potential fire near Law Creek.

B.C. Wildfire Service did also confirm a fire near Peachland Creek this evening as well.

They have also received calls of a fire in the Glenrosa area, which B.C. Wildfire has confirmed they are responding to.

B.C. residents calling with reports of a fire are asked to be patient as B.C. Wildfire is experiencing a high number of calls.
With the outbreak of fires, B.C. Wildfire Service does not have any additional information about the fires available at this time. NowMedia is working on gathering information about the fires currently ongoing in B.C.
