Those who ride the bus should be aware of a pair of changes made by BC Transit in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All passengers across British Columbia are now asked to board and deboard the bus using the rear doors.

The only exception is for passengers who need to use the ramp or other accessibility features on the vehicle, who can still use the front door.

As a result of these changes, customers will not be required to pay fares to use a BC Transit bus for the next 30 days. 

“These changes are being made to protect the health and safety of our operators and customers by creating the conditions for better social distancing,” said a statement from BC Transit.

“We are working to implement these changes in communities as quickly as possible, and we would ask customers to be patient with us during this time.”

BC Transit buses will continue to run at this time to help customers who need to get to work, including health care facilities, or those who need to go for groceries or other essential needs.

The company will continue to evaluate and adjust to the fluid situation.
