While people are doing their best to stay at home, BC Transit is still running around the province to get essential workers where they need to go during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, the organization provided an update regarding measures put in place to make public transit as safe as possible while trying to prevent the spread of the virus.
 

That includes the extension of rear-door boarding and free transit until at least April 30, which means no one needs to purchase a monthly pass for April.

“Details about refund processes for March and April fare products will be available when we announce the return to regular fare collection,” said a statement from BC Transit.

For buses that don’t have a rear door for loading, vinyl panels will be installed to support physical distancing and safety for both drivers and riders.

All BC Transit vehicles will continue to get enhanced cleaning and limit their passenger capacity, while communication to staff and customers about all these procedures will continue.

BC Transit also sent out a sincere thank you to all staff providing front-live services during the pandemic, which, of course, includes their own drivers across BC.
