  • BC Bucket List Family’s top 10 best of BC in 2020

Photo Credit: Abigail KentWith the hope of a vaccine on the horizon, our travel list is already being prepared for 2021. We’ve been able to safely experience some amazing family adventures exploring our local backyard this year. Here are our top memories and places to add to your BC bucket list!

    1. White Lake Cabins

The coziest spot for a digital detox and for perfecting the world’s best s’more. Family-run by the loveliest BC couple, we enjoyed the winter wonderland and forest of White Lake. With snowshoeing, Margaret Falls and more to explore, it’s family bonding at its coziest.

    2. Quaaout Lodge

Enjoy the masterful chefs at this Lodge’s restaurant, Jack Sam’s, serving works of edible art. Learn about Indigenous culture and enjoy views of the glorious Little Shuswap Lake. I recommend not leaving until you’ve indulged in a roasted bison striploin.

    3. Emerald Lake Lodge

Like adults at summer camp, we canoed the indescribable teal waters, surrounded by mountains at Emerald Lake Lodge. This romantic getaway had us curling up by our personal fireplace and sipping beverages on our deck overlooking this iconic BC gem. A quick drive will take you across the border to Lake Louise, however, if you want to stay within BC, many iconic waterfalls are nearby for your hiking and enjoyment.

    4. Prince of Whales and the Vancouver Delta Suites

Take off from Vancouver’s Granville Island and fall in love with the ocean and BC wildlife with Prince of Whales whale watching like we did. Our experience with a lonely humpback come to say ‘hello’ was magical. The knowledgeable guides will teach you all about Pacific North West’s incredible wildlife including the surrounding seabirds, seals, and sea lions.

The best way to travel with kids is to make sure they have their own room! Also, it’s nice when your TV screen welcomes you by name. Delta Suites made our visit to Vancouver relaxing and sumptuous. The location is perfect for all of our favourite Vancouver adventures and explorations such as Gastown shopping! The views of the ocean and downtown core are spectacular.

    5. Revelstoke Mountain Resort and Pipe Mountain Coaster

Photo Credit: Abigail KentRevelstoke is one of my favourite BC towns to experience. People are friendly and having fun wherever you go. Breakfast at Main Street Cafe is a must! If you haven’t tried the Pipe Mountain Coaster yet, make this a priority for 2021. It’s so much fun for all ages!

    6. Revelstoke Paragliding

This was my birthday present and an unforgettable experience, a way to commune with the mountains that’s only possible from this perspective. Trained and knowledgeable guides made this an exhilarating gift.

    7. Whistler Adventures

Photo Credit: Abigail KentThere’s almost too much to do at Whistler, enough for an extended trip or multiple visits! From the Jeep tours to the Ziplining, the hiking and biking to the shopping and dining. There is something for everyone. Make sure you stay at the Delta Village Suites to be in the middle of all the action!

    8. Big Bar Ranch

Photo Credit: Rachel HunterWaking up to the beautiful sound of hoof beats and horses ‘talking’ to each other is imprinted in my memory for 2020. These beautiful animals roam the property of Big Bar Ranch, greeting families, hunters, and star-crossed lovers eloping.

    9. Myra Canyon Stables Horseback Riding

Book a custom experience at Myra Canyon Stables and ride these majestic animals through Myra Provincial Park. This is a year round experience as the Myra Canyon horses come equipped with snowshoes for treading wintery paths. This is such a beautiful way to enjoy views of Kelowna and support local.

    10. The Osoyoos Wine Trail

Sit down to a private wine tasting and charcuterie board at one of the many award winning, world renowned wineries of Southern BC. This area has so much to offer families, couples, or friends with fantastic beaches, dining, train museum, Desert Center, theme park, camping and more.
