Scoring depth shone through in the Kelowna Chiefs’ 9-2 victory over the visiting 100-Mile House Wranglers on Saturday.

Nine different players shared in the scoring and seven posted multi-point performances as the Chiefs won their 13th game in 14 starts this season in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

Kayson Gallant, the team’s leading point-getter with 28 (15 goals, 13 assists) — good for third in the KIJHL — led the Chiefs with a goal and two assists while linemate Porter Dawson (9g,18a) matched that total in a game that saw the hosts jump out to a 4-0 first-period lead on the Wranglers (7-9) and extend it to 8-1 going into the third.

Marshall Porteous, a Calgary product, registered his first three-point game with a goal and two helpers while Kaelen Cosgrove, a 6’5”, 215-pound 16-year-old rookie, registered two points for the first time in the KI, scoring once and assisting on Porteous’s marker in the first period. Kelowna’s Logan Keating  joined in with his initial multi-point effort, assisting on goals by Ryan Antonakis (one goal, one assist) and Blain Worthing.

Kaden Meszaros and Zane Avery also pitched in with a goal and assist while Caleb Brown added his third goal of the season to round out the scoring for the Chiefs who bombarded the 100-Mile goaltending duo of starter Caelan Armstrong and reliever Jordan Wilde with 53 shots.

Braeden Mitchell stopped 24 of 26 Wranglers shots to improve his record to 9-1 with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

The Chiefs, riding a six-game winning streak and owning the KIJHL’s overall lead in points with 26, resume play on Tuesday when they bus to Armstrong to take on the North Okanagan Knights (6-9-0-2).

Next weekend's play will see the Chiefs on the road in Chase against the Heat on Friday and in Kamloops on Saturday for an encounter with the Storm, who will be the opponent in the Chiefs’  next home game Nov. 15 at the Rutland Arena.
