  • Another week, another farewell tour: Paul Simon announces he’s calling it quits

It feels like an entire generation of musicians is calling it quits at the same time.

This time, it’s Paul Simon who has announced that he will tour one last time before retiring.

His Homeward Bound tour will start in B.C. as well, with a show at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on May 16.

“I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end,” reads a letter from Simon, posted to his social media accounts.

“Now I know: it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief.”

Simon attributes this decision to a number of reasons, including the death of his band’s lead guitarist, Vincent N’guini, in December.

Similar to Elton John, who announced his farewell tour two weeks ago, Simon wants to stop touring to spend more time with his family.

Tickets for the Vancouver and Seattle dates of the tour will go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m.
