There’s nothing like a Christmas classic with a local twist to get you into the holiday spirit.
Central Okanagan residents have a chance to do just that by taking in A Kelowna Christmas Carol, as the production is nearly ready to make its stage debut.
The New Vintage Theatre will put on seven performances of the show between Nov. 28-Dec. 7 at the Mary Irwin Theatre inside the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

This is the second run in Kelowna for the show, funded by a Canada 150 grant, and New Vintage Theatre’s artistic director Bonnie Gratz is the woman in charge.
“This is one of my personal favourite productions because it has so much heart,” she says.
“Between adapting a family classic to reflect our local community and sharing in the holiday spirit with our audience, this all-ages show is sure to get you in a celebratory mood.”
As Gratz mentioned, the family-friendly production pays homage to the original classic while bringing in unique details to make it local to Kelowna.

It will feature 19 local actors, including Scott Lougheed, David Hewko, Chuck Pereen, Mika Jilek, Reid Gratz and young Noah Cairns.

New Vintage Theatre’s 2023 production of Elf! The Musical was a sell-out, so tickets to this special Okanagan take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol are expected to go fast.
