  • A COVID-friendly Family Day itinerary

Many of the typical indoor events planned for Family Day are canceled this year to avoid crowded spaces, but there are still many ways to keep the family entertained and make some memories. We encourage you to enjoy the following local experiences and at-home activities.

    Treaze Treasure Hunt!

This new, local company creates treasure hunts through the city for you to embark on your own Amazing Race-type adventure. Purchase a map, only one per family needed, and join others in a race to six different locations where you will scan a QR code for your next clue. Each location provides a word or phrase to solve that leads to the next location. The winner of this race will take home $1000 and a $500 gift card to EnergyPlex! The hunt takes approximately 2 hours and all locations are public areas. A vehicle is required to complete the hunt. Purchase maps here.

Take a self-guided tour through the stylish vines of The View Winery in East Kelowna. Follow the ironic red heels through the aisles. Children and pets are welcome! Warm your toes afterward in the tasting room with wine and cider tasters! The View Winery is family owned and operated.

    Ice Fishing!

Gear up and head to a surrounding lake for some winter ice fishing! Drop a lure and snatch a tasty perch or trout for a night of fish tacos! Remember to purchase a license for each fishing individual over 16 years old. Check with local sources like social media pages that monitor the ice levels, we’ve been having some mild weather.

Get your bake on and create a Valentine’s themed charcuterie board. We love making meringues, decorating chocolate covered strawberries, and stripey Valentine’s cookies.

We may be a long way out from BC camping but every kid loves the novelty of setting up a tent in the living room. Watch RV or The Parent Trap and enjoy a BBQed dinner to add to the effect. Sip hot chocolate and host a classic family talent show. The best part is you can sneak away into your own bed once the kids are asleep!

Whatever you get up to, I hope your family time is intentional and memorable! Follow along with @loewenlifestyle to watch us run the Treaze treasure hunt on Family Day! Stay healthy friends!
