  • Kelowna’s Annual Inclusion Chain Unites Community in Celebration of Diversity

The spirit of inclusivity shone brightly in Kelowna as Mayor Tom Dyas joined the Pathways Abilities Society for the 11th annual Inclusion Chain event on Oct. 4, 2024.

This year, the celebration centred around a significant proclamation, declaring October as “Community Inclusion Month” in Kelowna, emphasizing the city's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.

With the community coming together on Water Street, attendees formed a vibrant human chain, proudly singing the national anthem. The event served as a powerful reminder that everyone, regardless of their abilities, plays a crucial role in building a strong community.

Adam Less, a dedicated member of Pathways, reflected on the ongoing significance of the Inclusion Chain.

“Every year, we showcase the diversity in our community,” he noted. “It’s essential to reinforce that message of inclusivity and the importance of recognizing each individual’s value.”

The event attracted numerous members of the public, all eager to participate in the celebration of inclusion. Following the Inclusion Chain, attendees enjoyed a festive gathering hosted by Pathways, complete with complimentary refreshments, karaoke, and fun activities at Pathways location in Rutland, making it a memorable day for all involved.

The Inclusion Chain continues to symbolize the community's dedication to inclusivity, reminding us all that a united, diverse community is a stronger one.
