The Kamloops Blazers continue to be busy in the lead up to today’s WHL trade deadline.

Shea Van Olm and Connor Levis are the latest two to be shipped out of Kamloops as the team continues to recoup future assets after loading up for the Memorial Cup in 2023.

Van Olm was dealt to the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday night, with the Blazers getting Penticton-born forward Cole Wadsworth, a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 second-round pick in return.

It’s certainly a net win for the Blazers, who only had to part with a sixth-round pick to acquire Van Olm back in October 2022.

“It’s tough when you have to say goodbye to a great team and so many people you care about,” Van Olm said in a thank you note published to the Blazers’ Twitter/X account this morning.

“Kamloops will always have a special place in my heart – amazing fans, great billet family and very supportive coaching and support staff. I can’t thank you enough for all your support!”

Just over 12 hours later, Levis was traded to the Vancouver Giants this morning with Kamloops getting a 2025 first-round pick, 2024 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick.

Levis, who was a sixth-round selection of the Blazers in the 2020 WHL prospects draft, registered 151 points in 195 career regular season games with Kamloops, adding 16 points in 31 playoff games.

It’s a homecoming for Levis as well, as the 19-year-old, who was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL entry draft, was born and raised in Vancouver.

The WHL trade deadline is at 2 pm PT today.
