As various agencies call for motorists in British Columbia to exercise caution as we get into the winter driving season, one person clearly didn’t get the message.

Footage has surfaced of a recent dangerous and terrifying pass in northern BC that fortunately did not end up in a multi-vehicle collision.

It happened on Hwy 16 between Jasper and McBridge, just inside the BC-Alberta border east of Prince George, on Tuesday.

Taken from a westbound semi’s dash cam, the footage shows a pickup truck towing a travel trailer approaching from the other direction.

As the truck and trailer tries to pass another semi heading eastbound, it runs out of room and nearly causes a catastrophic crash.

Fortunately, the westbound semi is able to recognize the impending danger and drive onto the shoulder of the highway, giving room for the truck to complete its dangerous pass.

Unsurprisingly, the video prompted plenty of comments from other Reddit users and there was no shortage of outrage over the driver’s actions.

“These f***ing idiots who do this should lose their licence with proof like this. Lifetime ban. Someone who is either this stupid or has such a lack of respect for others doesn’t deserve the privilege,” wrote one user.

“That’s attempted murder as far as I’m concerned,” wrote another. “The load he had would have done some serious damage.”

Fortunately, the video ended up being only a dangerous pass and not a horrific collision, but it’s a good reminder to drive safely and wisely on BC highways this winter.
