Fraser Minten must have had a refreshing holiday break.

The Kamloops Blazers forward, and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, recorded his second hat trick in as many nights on Wednesday, both against the Kelowna Rockets.

It helped his Blazers to a 6-2 win over the Rockets, a second straight victory over their Thompson-Okanagan rivals to start the second half of the WHL season.

Tuesday’s game was back and forth the entire way and it looked like it would be a similar story on Wednesday, as the teams exchanged first period goals and were tied up through 20 minutes.

But the game was blown open in the middle frame, as the Blazers gave their fans something to cheer about with four goals before the period was seven minutes old.

Two of those came off the stick of Minten, while Nathan MacPherson-Ridgewell and Emmitt Finnie tickled the twine as well. It was MacPherson-Ridgewell's first career WHL goal.

Logan Peskett got the Rockets back to within three before the period was up, but Minten’s hat trick goal early in the third removed any doubt with regards to the scoreline.

Dylan Ernst was solid in the victory, with 26 saves on 28 shots, while Rockets starter Jari Kykkanen was pulled during the second period onslaught.

He managed just 12 saves on 16 shots before getting the hook. Talyn Boyko entered the game in relief and stopped 21 of 23 shots sent his way.

Both teams are back in action Friday night, with the Blazers hosting the Prince George Cougars and the Rockets welcoming the Seattle Thunderbirds to town.
