UPDATE: Hwy 1 reopens near Field

(UPDATE: Jan. 13 @ 8:55 am) – Hwy 1 has reopened just west of Field.

It's open to single-lane alternating traffic at the moment, but traffic is getting through.

It had been closed since shortly before 5 am for what Drive BC called a 'vehicle incident'.

(Original story: Jan. 13 @ 6:20 am) – A ‘vehicle incident’ near Field has closed Hwy 1 in both directions this morning.

It happened shortly before 5 am, just west of the small community, and has already resulted in a lineup of stalled traffic.

There is no detour available.

Drive BC estimates that the highway will be open again around 9:30 am today and the next update is expected at 7:30 am.
