Curbside waste collection is back on a normal schedule after the holidays threw a wrench into things.

However, this week’s heavy snowfall is throwing yet another wrench into the waste collection schedule around the Central Okanagan.

Residents may see delays in their curbside garbage and recycling collection as crews try their best to do their jobs on snow-filled streets.

“If your garage or recycling has not been picked up, please leave your carts out and the waste hauler will pick them up as soon as it is safe,” says a release from the RDCO. 

“To ensure your collection is not missed, please do not bring your carts back in until they have been emptied.”

The RDCO also requests that residents place their garbage and recycling cards as close to the street as possible without blocking the road, sidewalk, bike lanes or snow plows.

Carts shouldn’t be located behind or on top of snow banks and should be at least three feet from any obstacle or parked vehicle.
