  • UPDATE: Hwy 1 open to single lane alternating traffic following rockslide

    (UPDATE: Jan. 5 @ 8 am): DriveBC has announced that Hwy 1 is now open to single lane alternating traffic following a rockslide 12 km east of Spences Bridge.

    The incident occurred between Friesen Road and Venables Valley Road early Saturday morning, resulting in damage, delays and detours. The road was reopened late Saturday evening.

    For now, motorists can expect up to 20-minute delays within the area as clean up takes place. 

    (Original Story: Jan.4 @ 6:30 am): DriveBC is warning travellers that Highway 1 has been closed this morning due to a rockslide. 

    The rockslide occurred between Friesen Road and Venables Valley Road, 12 km east of Spences Bridge. 

    A geo-tech team is enroute to the scene. 

    A detour is available via Highway 97C or Highway 99, Highway 8 or Highway 5.
