Big White’s newest chairlift is opening for the season today.

The Powder Chair will start spinning at 8:45 am today, offering skiers and snowboarders easy access to 13 more runs. 

That means 12 chairs and 72 runs are now open on the mountain.

Big White has seen 2 centimetres of new snow over the past 24 hours, bringing the alpine snow base to 115 cm.

To begin the day, it’s -7°C with unlimited visibility, scattered clouds and calm winds.

There’s a chance of flurries over the next two days, but the real snow will be on it’s way for the weekend and the long-term forecast calls for 5-10 cm on Friday.
