  • Kings shutout Warriors, sweep season series

The Warriors got off to a rough start with some growing pains.

With some new faces up front the Warriors were not necessarily in sync. Great defensive play throughout, however after Johnny Derrick surrendered a quality rebound Kings forward Hunter McCoy was able to make it 1-0 after one period.

The Kings came out even stronger in the second scoring their second of the game. It would be defender Ben Wozney who would wire a shot off Deegan Mofford, regain possession and then find an open Jacob Badal who made no mistake beating Johnny Derrick to make it 2-0 Kings.

Warriors best scoring chance of the second came from a two on one chance for John Evans and Tyler Cristall but Cristall was unable to receive the pass from Evans derailing the Warriors chance at getting on the board.

The Warriors pushed hard in the final frame getting a couple quality scoring chances but couldn’t solve goaltender Thomas Wardle who would end up with a 31 save shutout. The Kings would add an insurance goal late from Nolan Krogfoss to make it 3-0. It was a game of blocked shots and great defensive play for the Kings in this one.

Final shots on goal: 31-27 in favour of the Warriors.
