  • Warriors acquire 19-year-old forward from the Chiefs

The West Kelowna Warriors are hoping a trade can help the team bust out of a recent slump.

Today, the Warriors acquired forward Carter Wilkie from the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for forward Trevor Adams.

Wilkie, a 19-year-old from Calgary, has recorded a pair of goals and 12 assists in 27 games for the Chiefs so far this season.

“We look forward to adding Carter to our roster,” said Brandon West, Warriors GM.

“He is an impact player who will help us at centre right away. He has a good skill set to go along with his vision and hockey IQ.”

Wilkie expressed excitement about joining the Warriors and said that fans can expect “a skilled player that brings a high level of compete to every game.”

Adams heads to Chilliwack after scoring five goals and four assists in 21 games for the Warriors.

The 20-year-old, who was acquired earlier in the season from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, recently secured a commitment to play at Union College once his junior hockey career is over.

In a second deal announced today, the Warriors also traded defenseman Brandon Dent to the Nanaimo Clippers for future considerations.

Next up for Wilkie and the Warriors is a home game against the Powell River Kings on Friday.
