Summer is practically here and the only thing hotter than the Okanagan sunshine will be the firey performance put on by Canada's biggest country act — The James Barker Band.

Exciting right? But wait, it gets better! You'll be able to dance and rejoice with your friends under the Okanagan summer sky as these rugged heartthrobs headline an outdoor venue – Kelowna's own Denim on the Diamond music festival on August 31 at King's Stadium. 

Currently at number one on the Canadian Country charts with their most recent release “Keep It Simple,” and cemented as one of the country’s most-played groups in their genre for the last three years in a row, it is safe to say their Okanagan visit is a pretty big deal.

Though they may be at the top of the charts now, JBB's rise to fame was no overnight success story. Forming in 2013, the group worked tirelessly to have their music heard.

JBB fought through the trials and tribulations of the industry before gaining the opportunity to share their creations on a larger stage in 2015, all thanks to a talent search hosted by Ontario's Boots and Hearts music festival. 

After captivating fans with their energetic live performances and undeniable talent, the group managed to claim the winner's spot at the festival, ultimately skyrocketing their career after signing with Universal Music Canada.

The rest has been nothing but gold, literally! Following their win, the group's first five singles all achieved gold certification, their debut record won them the coveted Country Album of the Year Juno award and they have managed to create one of Canadian country's most spun song in both 2017 and 2018.

Not only have they achieved stunning success in their home and native land, but JBB were staking their claim on U.S. soil back in 2017 with their most recognizable hit "Chills" — which made its way to #46 on the U.S. Country radio airplay chart, a first for a Canadian Country artist that was not signed to a domestic label.

A true testament to the talent that is rooted in the Canadian music scene, JBB are doing their nation proud not only through obtaining impressive global streams on Spotify but by landing themselves on the bills of many international festivals. 

Just a few short months before hitting our hometown stage, the band has already played for fans in both London, England and Berlin, Germany — making their visit even more exciting!

In between sets, a DJ will be spinning summer vibes with the addition of more local acts who will gain their way to the stage through Kelowna's own talent search to be announced soon.
