  • Live it Now: Kindness

Hello Friends! As you read this spring will officially be here, another full moon illuminated our sky, the sun kissing our cheeks with bliss. All of these ever-evolving changes on our little rock we call home seems to keep us all a bit calmer than the grey stormy weather we’ve endured. We literally have a bounce in our step and we stand a smidge taller. Like little blossoms raising our faces to the radiance, we shine brighter. We are kinder, gentler versions of ourselves. Why is that? Doesn’t kindness matter ALL the time? Sure if we’re blue or down our ‘light’ is a bit duller, I get it and I’m guilty of it. What if we made an effort every day to be kind… to ourselves, to others, to strangers? Could we create the warmth of a beautiful day with the purest intentions of kindness? I believe 100% that we can, and should. A group of us volunteered this past weekend at the Spring Run Off in Westsyde, cheering for every person who zoomed by! They fed off our energy, and it made the finish line seem closer. Such a wonderful way to spend a morning.

We can practice kindness every day; be focussed when someone is speaking to you, be simply gracious enough to hold the door for a stranger, or let a car in on a busy street, wave to the pedestrian who acknowledges your polite stop for them, give a cyclist or runner the friendly decency to not splash them with a puddle. Today while driving, two beautiful deer went running into traffic in a panic, we all slowed and watched… but as I started to drive again I didn’t see a huge buck coming up fast, the car behind politely tooted her horn and saved us from colliding. I waved my thanks and off we went. About 6 cars of strangers enjoying a lovely moment together, no one angry or annoyed, we came together in that second. And isn’t there such a difference between a blaring horn honk and a nice little beep beep… you know what I mean. There’s a gentleness that can be felt, just like laying on the horn says… well again, you know.

Simply stated… kindness matters! The choice is ours to make. Have a bad day, own it. But let’s not ruin others’. It’s your life… it’s waiting… LIVE IT NOW!
