With the total number of wineries quickly approaching 300 in B.C., it can seem a daunting and intimidating task to try and visit even a fraction of them.

A large proportion are concentrated within southern BC, and many are now remaining open year round. Here are some wineries not to miss on your next wine tour in 2019: 

Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery – Peachland 

Arguably one of the best wineries in the Okanagan that no one seems to know about. Nestled in the hills just outside of Peachland overlooking Okanagan Lake, Hainle is one of the original organic and natural producers in BC.

Examples of pinot noir, riesling, ehrenfelser and zweigelt barely scratch the surface of the outstanding calibre and quality of their portfolio.

Fun fact – their pinot noir was served at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. 

vinAmité Cellars – Oliver

Owned by the Coulombe family, walking into the tasting room at vinAmite feels like you've walked into an inviting and cozy home owned by your grandmother.

This feeling of nostalgia carries through to the tasting experience with their warm, friendly and down to earth staff. The Coulombe's wanted to make wines reminiscent of old world, French styles with a contemporary twist.

They're equally delicious to drink now with plenty of freshness, or can easily lay down for a few years if cellaring is what you're into. 

Liber Farm & Winery – Cawston

Liber has that sort of rustic charm that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time.

No fancy tasting room here – enjoy a flight of wines in their small and modest cellar. Proprietors Mike and Nicole Dowell hail from Edmonton, Alberta, but sold everything to make the move to the Similkameen and pursue their dream of organic farming and winemaking.
