A local winery has made a significant donation to the Parkinson Society British Columbia.
Ex Nihilo Vineyards in Lake Country raised the funds through a combination of silent and live auction items available at the Fall Harvest Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 6.
Every single dollar and cent raised by the auctions will be donated to the Parkinson Society.
Jeff Harder and Janet Azhadi, Ex Nihilo Vineyard’s partners, chose to donate the funds this way because both of their fathers were diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

“My father was a private pilot and my memories of weekend flying with dad were some of my fondest, explained Harder, whose father is now in his mid 70s after being diagnosed at age 28.
“Today, he struggles just putting on a seatbelt. It’s difficult to watch as eating, speaking and walking are very challenging for him.”
Harder said the winery will continue to be a part of and contribute to the Parkinson Society and that he believes a cure is right around the corner.
The Parkinson Society has supported and empowered people with Parkinson’s, along with their families and caregivers, for close to 50 years.
