  • Small fire sparks near Osoyoos Lake

    A fire has sparked north of Osoyoos Lake late Monday afternoon, signalling for a response from B.C. Wildfire Service and the local fire department. 

    BC Wildfire has enlisted seven personnel, air tankers and one helicopter from to assist the local fire department in suppressing the approximately two-hectare fire. 

    B.C. Wildfire Service has not determined the cause of the fire, said Marla Catherall, Wildfire Information Officer, and there are no homes or structures affected at this time.

    A second wildfire has also sparked northwest of Allison Lake late Monday afternoon, weighing in at one-half hectare. It is suspected to be human-caused.

    The fire near Allison Lake is also not affecting homes or structures and has elicited a response from the B.C. Wildfire Service who have dispatched four personnel, air tankers and one helicopter.
