School is finally out and that means everyone can focus on having an amazing summer!

While it’s great to finally have the kids at home, it can become exhausting trying to find new activities to do in the city.

We understand your pain, so to combat it we compiled a list of our favorite day trips to take your family on.

Whether it’s a trip on a tank or an over-nighter, you’ll want to mark these down on the bucket list.

Ancient Forest

The Ancient Forest hiking trail between PG and McBride has gained a lot of tourist attention.

This trail provides nature-lovers with the opportunity to view enormous ancient cedar trees.

It is an easy-moderate hiking trail and is home to a beautiful waterfall!

Take the family and let the kids run off some steam. You can thank us later when they are napping!

Huble Homestead

The Huble Homestead is a historic site located in the Giscome Portge Regional Park. 

Huble Homestead Historic Site is a brief 40 minutes off Highway 97 on Mitchell Road.

Here you will see the persevered Huble House on its original site.

The site is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until September, and entry is by donation.

Goodsir Nature Park

Take a stroll through this Canadian botanical park!

There are over 200 different kinds of trees, shrubs and wildflowers to enjoy.

You may also spot a beaver pond!

Barkerville

Sitting at a two hour and 23-minute drive, this is the longest day trip we have on the list.

At Barkerwille Historic Town and Park, you will learn about the Barker’s story and their rush for gold!

This location stands as a testament to B.C.’s gold beginnings!

With over 125 heritage buildings, museums, displays and restaurants there is tons to explore!

Trust us when we say it is worth the drive!

Ferguson Lake

This brief 20 minute drive will take you to a beautiful lake!

There are tons of public trials, viewpoints, canoe launches, fishing spots and even a cute little picnic site!

Grab a couple rods and some worms, because this is where you will want to spend the day relaxing and fishing!

Dahl Lake Provincial Park

The drive is just over an hour and trust us when we say the view is beyond worth it!

This day trip is equipped with a sandy beach, short walking trails and an amazing lake! What more could you possibly be looking for?

Whether it’s a canoe or the latest floaty, you’ll want to bring some water activities!

Make sure you keep your eye out! This provincial park has tons of wildlife visitors!
