One of reality T.V.’s biggest stars has died.

Richard Harrison, known as ‘Old Man’ to most, has passed away this morning at the age of 77, the show announced.

“It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Richard Benjamin Harrison (known as ‘The Old Man’ to Pawn Stars fans the world over) this morning,” said a Facebook post from the show.

“He was surrounded by loving family this past weekend and went peacefully. The team at Gold & Silver Pawn and the Pawn Stars family is grieving his loss.”

Harrison opened the famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop alongside his son, Rick, in 1989.

The store was open for 20 years before the two men, alongside Rick’s son Corey and Corey’s childhood friend ‘Chumlee’ were featured in the reality T.V. series Pawn Stars.

The show instantly became a huge hit on the History Channel, becoming the network’s highest rated program within 10 weeks.

It also quickly become the second highest rated reality show program behind Jersey Shore.

By February 2012, the number of people visiting the store, located just two miles from the Las Vegas strip, had spiked all the way to between 3,000 and 5,000 people per day.

The show continues to create new episodes, with 522 total episodes having aired over 15 seasons.

He will be remembered as the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather you could have by his family and by fans as the sometimes grumpy (always loving, however), often wisecracking, and voice of absolute reason on the History television show ‘Pawn Stars’.
