Meet Shawn, he grew up in Maple Ridge B.C. but has been living in the Okanagan for more than 10 years. Shawn and his wife own Pinned Boutique in Downtown Kelowna.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My entire world is Katrina Hansen.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
I am a fan of small businesses and since I help run one, I would have to say Pinned Boutique.

    Describe yourself in one word.
    Motivated

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Depends on who is paying- two months to explore Europe sounds great but the Okanagan has so much to offer why leave?

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Nothing beats a warm evening ride on the Harley to get an ice cream.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
    That's tough since I don't embarrass easy.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
    Finding light on dark days.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Making my parents proud and hearing them talk to their friends about how I excelled.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Unicorns. The world needs more hope, imagination and the courage to bring them to life.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
To my patio with my wife to enjoy the sunset and decompress from the day

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love for people to realize that there are bike lanes all through downtown and that the sidewalks are for people walking not bicyclists.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
It's the little things. People keep the area clean and are respectful of others.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

    1. walk the great wall of China
    2. go to space(really I just want to experience zero gravity)
    3. fly in a fighter jet( it's all about the speed)

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Facebook is the easiest for me since I am always checking and updating for our store.

What is the name of your business/organization?
    Pinned Boutique

Why did you get into/start this business?
My wife loves the style. We always wanted to work together it just seemed like the right thing to do.

What is the goal of your business?
To bring fashion back from yoga pants and hoodies.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
    Raising teenagers!

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I own every decision and choice. I would not change a thing.

What do you always find yourself saying?
    It is what it is.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
You only get out what you put in. The harder you try, the more of a reward you will get.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To support the small businesses as they are the ones building and moulding our community.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Katrina Hansen. Without her, our business would not be where it is today.

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
    Kyle Oram.
