The City has closed down the island in Cottonwood Island Nature Park due to rising water in the Nechako River.

This closure has come after the special weather statement issued by Environment Canada.

Signs and barricades have been placed at locations including the Replica Bridge and the recently constructed bridge at the west end of the park.

Access to the canoe launch and a small area north of the Railway Bridge are also blocked.
