Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • In Focus | Warren Eaton

Meet Warren! He is originally from Edmonton and moved to Kelowna in 2004. He loves to enrich peoples lives through dance.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
    My wife Jeni:)

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
There are so many, but I will say Raudz.

    Describe yourself in one word.
    Curious.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
    Italy. Food, wine, culture.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
    Hiking

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Years back a friend dropped me off to get some groceries. He was waiting in the car out front. When I was done shopping, I got back into the car, but it wasn't his! Some other guy had taken the spot! I'm sure my friend is still laughing.

    What is
the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Nature always inspires me. Seeing my students blossom with self-confidence as they learn to feel more comfortable in social situations, lose weight, meet new friends and have a more positive outlook on life, all from learning to dance!

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Every summer my family would travel to Saskatoon for vacation as both sets of my grandparents lived there. We always had wonderful times all together going to lakes, bbq's, playing cards. So much contentment, happiness, and love.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I have done many, volunteer dance performances, classes, donations. Most recently, I started teaching people with Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis to dance. It is a huge benefit for them to use their motor skills and memory, not to mention all of the regular benefits!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
More men would want to dance!

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Almost anywhere outside. A mountain or greenway, even a local park.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Somehow solve the parking crisis that is starting in downtown Kelowna. More people but no room for them. We could not find a condo downtown that had parking for more than 1 vehicle, and there's no room to park on the street!

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The beautiful geography of this area as well as the climate.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
    1.Travel.
    2.Tai Chi.
    3. More travel.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I really enjoy kids, youth children. Their energy is infectious. People might not think that about me as I don't have any kids of my own and will not be having children.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

    Latinsque, Facebook or Phone.

What is the name of your business/organization?
    Latinesque Ballroom and Latin Dance.

Why did you get into/start this business?
Fate. Long story:) But I love it!

What is the goal of your business?
To enrich lives, encourage health to connect people and show that ANYONE can learn to dance:)

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
    Procrastination.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
    Definitely the same!

What do you always find yourself saying?
    "No, your other left foot:)"

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Try not to spend it worrying all the time.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?

That's tough! I'm going to say the author/guru Eckhart Tolle. I think it would be fascinating!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It makes us stronger as a community and fosters better human beings.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
The part I am honoured to play in helping people enrich their lives through dance.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My wife Jeni Eaton:) She is the most intelligent, talented and caring person I know.

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
Dolores Greenlaw. She was/is the first female helicopter pilot in Canada!
