“We’re now seeing an unprecedented amount of development in downtown Prince George,” says Lyn Hall, Mayor of Prince George.

“Over a decade ago, the City developed a concept plan, called Smart Growth on the Ground, which envisioned a path to a sustainable and vibrant downtown. This Council has made a commitment to advance, through our Corporate Plan, many of the ideas laid out in that strategy including incentives, events, and new facilities and services.”

The City has already planned a number of developments for the summer, including:

    • Construction of a city-owned parkade across from City Hall
    • Demolition of the old RCMP building
    • Demolition of the current farmers market
    • Permanent closure between 7th Avenue and Patricia Blvd to allow construction of subsequent housing
    • Demolition of the Days Inn Hotel

The City has published a webpage with more information about the downtown progress that will include road closures and upcoming construction.
