Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My two kids – Emily and Tyler
What is your favourite local store in Prince George and why?
Homework – they sell such great and unique products.
Describe yourself in one word.
Passionate.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Anywhere with a beach. I love the ocean and the calming effect it has on me.
What is your favourite activity in Prince George?
Training at Xconditioning.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Becoming a palliative care nurse. I have learned so much about life from the patients and families that I have looked after over the years. I treasure all of the pearls of wisdom that my dying patients have shared with me.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My favourite childhood memory is spending time with my parents and siblings at our cottage in Ontario on Irish Lake. Swimming, water-skiing and campfires with family and friends are memories that I will cherish forever.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I volunteer as a coach PG Minor Girls fastball as a way to give back to my community and also to help girls enjoy playing a sport, have fun and learn the skills of being a teammate.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
If I could change one thing in the world, I would change the way that some people act towards others. We should always celebrate others accomplishments and achievements and not be jealous and tear others down because they have had a success that we haven't. "Blowing out someone else's candle won't make yours shine brighter" is a saying that I wish everyone would live by.
Where would you sneak away to in Prince George to spend some time alone?
I take my black lab for a walk in the forest when I want to be alone.
Where would you like to see positive change in Prince George and why?
I think PG is a pretty positive place already but if I had to choose something I would ask for more people to volunteer their time/talents in the support of patients who are at the end of life.
What do you think makes Prince George great?
The people – definitely the people!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
I don't really have a bucket list in the traditional sense. But three things that I make sure to do are:
1. Tell the people that are important to me how much they mean to me.
2. Be a good person.
3. Forgive others.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I love listening to music. I will often play the same song over and over again until I learn all of the lyrics and then I move on to the next song.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram.
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
Finding a balance between work/personal life and my lifting life. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist so it has sometimes been a struggle to find the balance and fit everything in.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do things the same.
What do you always find yourself saying?
Tell people how you feel about them today, so you have no regrets.
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Make yourself a priority. Find whatever it is in your life that makes you happy and your life fulfilling and do it as often as you can.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My dad. It has been a very long time since we have been able to spend a significant amount of time together alone.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It's important to shop locally so that we are supporting our friends and neighbours to stay in our community as business people.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Winning Worlds Strongest Woman (masters) in 2017.
