  • Now You KNow! – All about the Kelowna Daffodil Dash

Sunday morning was the Canadian Cancer Society's first annual Daffodil Dash at Stuart Park in Kelowna. The events team went out to see why an event like this is so important to participate in.

Over 100 runners registered for the first ever run in Kelowna. The runners also fund raised for the Canadian Cancer Society before the run. The money raised through the Daffodil Dash supports outstanding research, provides information and support to people facing cancer as well as it helps to develop prevention strategies to stop cancer from happening in the first place.

The great thing about supporting this cause is that people are able to have a bigger impact against more cancers, in more communities, than with any other charity. Before the event had started, the latest tally of funds that were raised was over seven thousand dollars.

Before the 10k runners headed out, annual giving coordinator, Shannon Jolley, gave opening remarks. The runners then got to participate in a Belly Fit warm up to get them prepped for their run. After the participants completed their run, prizes were given out to the best dressed participants!

Although the day was gloomy, the smiles and bright yellow outfits of the participants lit up the park! People and pets were all so happy to be a part of this event and show support for the loved ones lost and the loved ones currently battling.
