  • Leo Finally Takes Home Gold

After years of walking away from the Academy Awards without an Oscar, Leonardo DiCaprio finally has one of his own.

DiCaprio has been nominated five times before, but I guess sixth-time’s the charm.

The 41-year-old actor was finally awarded Best Actor by the Academy at Sunday night's award show, for his leading role in The Revenant, which was largely filmed in Alberta.

In his acceptance speech, he didn’t waste time before getting into harder hitting issues like climate change, which he has championed for over the years.

“Making ‘The Revenant’ was about man's relationship to the natural world. A world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history,” continued DiCaprio. “Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.

“I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted.”
