This particular Battle of the Okanagan was not much of a battle.

Down two of their top forwards, the Kelowna Rockets fell flat and failed to get anything going in a 5-0 loss to the Penticton Vees on Saturday night.

Ethan McCallum made 26 saves to shut out a Rockets lineup that was missing both Tij Iginla and Shane Smith due to upper body injuries.

Jacob Kvasnicka, Brady Birnie, Ethan Weber, Brooks DeMars and Nolan Stevenson all scored for the Vees in the win.

Harrison Boettiger stopped 21 of 26 before Nathan Kam entered the game after Stevenson’s 5-0 goal and turned aside all four shots he faced in relief.

Kelowna will hope to get a little healthier and bounce back on Tuesday night as they host the Red Deer Rebels.
