A pair of five-week-old kittens were brought to a SPCA shelter after being found huddled near a house in the South Okanagan suffering from respiratory infections.
The two kittens were found on Dec. 11, an Osoyoos resident was found huddled on a blanket near some items on the porch.
The resident placed the kittens in a box and brought them to the BC SPCA South Okanagan-Similkameen in Penticton.
Brittney Vazorka, manager of the shelter, said both kittens were fearful, very dirty and suffering from respiratory infections.

One of the kittens also had a kinked tail, which the BC SPCA said is likely from a healed past injury.
Both kittens were cleaned, fed and held at the shelter overnight before being brought to the vet the next day. The vet placed them on a special treatment plan to get over their infections.
Fortunately, both kittens, who have been named Shortbread and Gingersnap, are recovering at the home of a BC SPCA foster volunteer.
“The foster reports the kittens are doing well, and steadily improving,” said Vazorka.
“They still have a bit of a sneeze and occasional discharge from their eyes, but they are active and playing with each other.”
At this time, it is unknown when the pair of kittens will be ready for adoption but updates will be provided on the SPCA’s website.
A caring family, in honour of cats Sammy and Maxy, alongside generous animal lover Cliff Mogenson have pledged to match every donation up to $80,000.
