  • UPDATE: Hwy 5 reopens between Merritt and Kamloops after ‘serious’ crash

(UPDATE: Nov. 13 at 5:04 am): The highway has now been completely cleared.

(Original story: Nov. 12 at 4:16 pm): Anyone travelling on Highway 5 between Merritt and Kamloops should prepare for a few delays due to a vehicle  incident.

DriveBC said there have been reports of a vehicle incident about eight kilometres south of Inks Lake Rd.

“Assessment is in progress. No detour is available,” DriveBC said.

Motorists are being told to keep an eye out for first responders.

Details are limited at this time, however, a few people currently on the road took to the Coquihalla Road Reports Facebook group to provide updates.

One driver shows a long line of traffic in the southbound lane.

Another driver reported that there was a “serious” accident and an air ambulance was landing as they were passing through the area.
